Everyone deserves a 2nd chance in life. Doesn’t matter human or animal, who among us hasn’t made mistakes before? No one is perfect. Here, I found a touching story to share with both cat lovers and prisoners.
At Washington Prison, specially screened offenders without a history of violence and who have shown good behavior are being trained by volunteers to care for cats and work on their behavior so that the cats are able to have a 2nd chance at finding a home. The innovative program is being spearheaded by a cat rescue organization called “Cuddly Catz”.
A cat named Princess Natalie was facing death row when she was fortunate enough to be admitted into this special program. An inmate named Joey Contreras took her under his wing. He described Princess Natalie when they 1st met as a feline who was “always biting and scratching”. Now, she is well behaved under Joey’s care.
Another inmate named Richard Amaro also signed up for this program, and is taking care of another cat. He says he has done wrong before and realizes that this is a chance to give back to society. He is happy to give himself and the cat a 2nd chance at a new life.
This program should be introduced in every country. It really helps both prisoners and cats to find their inner strength and hope for tomorrow.
